I finally got rid of that damned dog! Although I must admit that he helped me out in several fights, including one that I did not anticipate against a highly powerful undead mage/conjurer by the name of Volsung. I recovered a unique face-plate from his remains, it seems incredibly powerful, however I do not know what I will do with it yet. I do not fully understand it's power, which makes me both hesitant to sell it and also hesitant to wear it!
Barbas, as I mentioned, has gone back to his owner. The damned Daedra tried to make me slay the dog with his rueful ax but I'd seen it fight, it was no mere pup, it was a god's minion, and I had no desire to be made a fool of so I refused. The Daedra didn't seem to upset, and the dog is now back at his side.
On my way out of Hermaeus Mora's dreadful shrine I saw a dust covered book lying neglected on a cluttered shelf. On an impulse I reached out for it, inside was detailed the story of Gauldur, and his powerful amulet. Seeing as the tomb mentioned in the tome was close I decided to stop by. It proved to be an excellent idea. After navigating the dead adventurers who had cleared most of the tomb for me, I had but to dispose of the undead specter of the son of Gauldur before holding in my hand an actual fragment of the Gauldur amulet. Now I must find the other two. I am obsessed with the thought, what arcane power this amulet must hold!
I am currently at Morthal, after returning from the crypt. I will rest here tonight, sell off what I can tomorrow, and then venture to the next tomb. There is a strange woman patrolling the tavern, I tried to speak to her by she shook me off bluntly. Her name is Alva, apparently she was involved with a man who some say killed his own wife and child to be with her. Something about her isn't right. I will sleep with one eye open, I feel an evil aura about her.

Fredas, 11:44 AM, 29th of Last Seed
Still have not reached Rimerock Burrow. Got disoriented yesterday for some reason and wandered into a cave. A cave of nightmares First it seemed fine, and as it was snowing it was actually a welcome respite. However as I ventured deeper I suddenly sensed the room opening up, and my path narrowed to a single wooden bridge. I should have never stepped foot on it, but I did, for I sensed the warmth of torchlight on the other side, and thought that it must be safe if someone had lit a torch on the far side. My mistake. The bridge gave out beneath my feet, sending me plummetting down many many feet into icy cold, rushing water. The water swept me along, blubbering and coughing as I am no swimmer, and even if I was, the current was too strong, and pulled me through too many underwater passages for it to matter.
I thought it was all over, I was going to be swept to the den of some underwater entity with a hungering for blood. I was almost right. I managed to grab the edge of the wall at a turn in the current and pull myself to solid ground but my tribulations were far from over. Even as I was still struggling to retain my breath I heard the distinctive skittering and hissing of giant spiders. I had no idea were I was, all I knew was that if I backed up, I was probably dead. Barbas the dog was no where in earshot, I was alone, for all I knew surrounded by frostbite spiders.
I could hear them approaching, I fired a frost bolt wildly into their midst, but they didn't seem to scatter, leading me to believe that I was on a narrow ledge. I used that to my advantage, taking a step further away from the edge I blasted them again, this time at an angle. My wild guess worked, the force of the impact was enough that spiders were thrown into the current. There was silence in the cave...for a moment. Then I heard scittering above me. The sound of a larger spider. I fired up, hit it, and it dropped down. I barely dodged it's poison attack, firing crackling electricity from my fingers the whole time. The second mass of poisonous slime hit me, coating my arm and abdomen. I stumbled back, but the spider too seemed to be injured, it did not advance, in fact I heard it slowly retreating. I quaffed a poison resistance potion and followed the arachnid. It led me to a shallow cave where I finished it off with one more accurate shock blast.
Inside the cave was a chest with a human skeleton draped over the top. I took the gold, and an ornate dagger, all the time distracted with fear that another giant spider was going to attack me from behind.
There were no more spiders, but as I continued further down the watery path I could feel the room beginning to open up again. And I sensed multiple hostile forces dotting the protruding land. Trolls. I had never faced a troll in combat before, and I guess to be accurate I still haven't really. I managed to sneak past most of them, as I did I slowly became aware of a fresh draft. I followed it to a smaller room off of the main one. Two trolls patrolled in an unorganized pattern, effectively blocking the small exit. In the middle of the room was some sort of a raised dais or platform. It almost seemed to be like the roof of a holy building, buries far underground. In front of it was an altar, I inspected it cautiously, out of eyesight of the trolls, but I was unable to recognize it's shape. It blessed my however as I continued to inspect it, and the blessing spoke in the name of Auriel, fortifying my aim. I intend to look into this deity if I ever have the chance.
Unfortunately as I continued to inspect this altar, one of the trolls saw me and howled a warning to its companion which echoes off the walls of the small cave, out into the larger, water filled room. Effectively alerting every beast in the place. I had no choice, there was no way I could fight an army of trolls, I probably wouldn't have even killed one. So I ran. I ran towards the small door in the cave that I had no idea were it went. I stumbled up, climbing over rough terrain my only though to stay two steps ahead of the lumbering trolls. Which, as a note move a lot faster than I thought they did. They bounded off the walls and leapt over the obstacles with surprising ease, making my blind stumbling look like I was crawling slowly with a heavy load.
I managed to stay ahead of them though...until I reached a dead end. I frantically clawed at the wall, my hand found a chain and I pulled it. The wall gave way, I rolled under the door, pulling the chain again at the last moment to slam it down in front of the trolls. The beasts seemed too stupid to understand to pull the chain. I was safe. At least partially. The room I was in was small, with a dying fire in it's middle. The draft was now very close, and carried the frigid skyrim winds in it. Before I left the room though I could not help but notice the dead Breton lying very close to the similar fire. He had large gashes all across his body, no doubt from the trolls claws. he must have made it all that way only to succumb to death alone. I set his body ablaze. I had no desire for it, and in some way it seemed right, as he had traveled my path before me.
I met up with Barbas outside the cave, the dumb dog must have avoided the rickety bridge altogether and been waiting the whole time. He was glad to see me though which was nice in a way. We are now back on course to the burrow, a day behind schedule.
One other item of note, upon crossing a rive via on old Dwarven bridge I found, recessed in a small crevice of Dwarven manufacturing a strange shard, which seems to hold some sort of power. I don't recognize it however, I'm not even sure if the manufacturing is Dwemer or not. I will have to get it looked at at some point.

Middas, 8:43 PM, 27th of last seed
I found the dog which Lod, the blacksmith had spoken of, and so far he has led me on a wild, coin less goose chase. Apparently the dog has is or is possessed by the spirit of Barbas, the companion of clavicus vile. They had some sort of falling out and the dog requested my aid in reparing the relationship in return for a reward. I agreed. We went to the shrine of Clavicus Vile which was several miles away...and infested with vampires. After clearing it of the vile creatures I finally found the shrine itself and held an audience with Clavicus. The daedra refused to accept the dog back until I fetch an axe of mythic power for him he called the rueful axe. Unfortunately for me that axe is located on the other side of Skyrim. So I'm on my way, Barbas is accompanying me, I actually don't mind him that much when he's quiet, he's a decent fighter. I just hope this all pays off in the end. I'm spending the night at Rorikstead, the innkeeper mentioned a bounty for a bandit leader nearby so I intend to eliminate that threat before leaving the area, and while I still have Barbas's help.
I had a somewhat pleasant run-in with a young man named Erik who happens to be the son of the innkeeper here, as a matter of fact he just left my room. He approached me shortly after i entered the inn, probably after seeing my adventurers gear, and asked me if I could talk to his father about allowing him to venture outside of Rorikstead himself instead of staying as a farmer. For some reason I said yes, and spoke to the innkeeper again. At first the old man was hesitant, but on an impulse i offered him most of the gold I had and told him to give it to his son to allow him to buy some armor. I don't know why i did it but the innkeeper accepted gratefully and he must have talked to his son immediately after for he came into my room hesitantly while I was eating my overcooked chicken breast, tangy eider cheese, amazing black briar mead and thanked me. He was a very nice young man, I don't suppose he'll survive long in the wilderness, although I suppose many would say that about me too and I've been doing alright. I haven't slept with anyone since my banishment, it was an odd yet somewhat pleasant feeling, the warm touch of a Nord is so different than that of a dunmer. I suppose I should have told him he will never see me again, but for some reason i didn't. perhaps I feel guilty, almost as if I owe him instead of vice versa, mainly because he helped pull a rambling drunk named Sam off of me in the main room of the inn. The damned imperial wanted me to participate in a drinking game with him and got quite disturbed when I turned him down.

Tirdas, 5:01 PM, 26th of Last Seed
Got rewarded for 'slaying' the monster, but not half as well as I'd have liked. Am setting out tonight in search of a dog a blacksmith claims to have lost. He promised a reward. I feel so stupid running errands like this but how else will i ever be able to afford equiptment? The Jarl of Falkreath(a pompous youg whip) gave me the honoryary title of Thane and told me I was free to purchase land in his district. What good that does me I know not.

Many months later...
The air is getting crisp out. After being forced to leave my cave I had taken shelter in for nearly two months I have been wandering the barren southern landscape of Skyrim. I stumbled into a small dismal town they called Falkreath were I overheard several men speaking of a violent murder of a little girl. They tried to shoo me away when they saw my condition, but I was persistent until they at last told me that the killer was a man locked in the town's dungeons. He was as I had expected, inhuman The whole situation had reeked of Magicka or else I would have never investigated. After a mild charm spell had been cast on him the man was more than willing to explain to me that he was indeed a werewolf, but for some reason he was very unwilling to disclose he was cursed by Hircine. Hircine is, as far as my knowledge of Daedric princes goes, supposedly a friend of were wolfs and all creatures of the hunt. I questioned the man once on this matter but his resistance was too strong, and I felt that strengthening the spell was an unnecessary expenditure of my energy.
Regardless, the man offered me the cursed ring which Hircine and 'gifted' him and asked that I slay the great white stag which roamed the area to summon Hircine, and then straightway return the ring to the Daedric prince. Typically I would be unwilling to lend aid to a stranger, especially one was so deeply entangled in Magicka I do not fully understand. But something about the man's plea, and the chance that I may be able to confront the Prince of the Hunt, obliged me to say yes.
Hunting down the stag was not as difficult as I had imagined it would be. After lacing my daggar with the poisen of the vile frostbite spider I found a bushy spot where I could hide. The man had told me the area where the stag came to drink, and sure enough, he had not steered me wrong. I heard the great beast step softley into the clearing. I held myself back though until I could smell it near me, and to my great luck it stopped mere feet away from me to lap up the cool water.
After the beast lay dead at my feet it was only a matter of moments before I heard Hircine's voice. He congratulated me on my victory, particularly pleased that I had managed the job so smoothly without any form of vision. His next request however put a sour taste into my mouth, he wished me to prove my ability to hunt by finding the werewolf who I had spoken to in the prison and slaying him as well. I told Hircine that I would, but never in my head was I able to agree to the arrangement I may play with black magic, perhaps I have killed a few innocents as well. But I have never gone back on my word. I promised the cursed man that I would intercede on his behalf and not even the Daedric prince Hircine had any ability to make me change my mind.
I left the Daedric prince thinking that he had just sealed his wayward werewolf's fate. It was not to be, however. I found the werewolf hiding in small underground barrow, near where Hircine had told me he might be. Inside were a few hunters, most were bloodied and several were already dead. They told me that the werewolf had ventured further in, and looked at me in shock when I nodded and continued after the beast alone.
In fact I did not have to walk for long. The man found me. He was wary, as he should have been, I'm sure that he had guessed Hircine desired him dead. I calmed his fears however, and offered him my help in clearing the barrow of the remaining hunters. It was an easy task. In fact most of the hunters turned tail and ran when they saw the mighty feral beast and the blind Elven necromancer leaping at them from the darkness. The ones that didn't move fast enough were slowed by my magic and then shredded by the ivory claws of my companion.
After the brief battle the werewolf thanked me quietly and then left me. I suppose he didn't want to wait around long enough for me to change my mind. I was a bit concerned as I exited the barrow, afriad that Hircine would be waiting outside, furious at my blatant lie.
I did hear his voice the moment I stepped outside, but it was not angry, in fact he sounded jovial at my turning of the hunt upon the hunters He finally accepted the cursed ring from me and exchanged it with one he said may someday bring me greater prowess in the hunt. I did not understand, but I thanked him and moved on.
Right now I am reclining on a dirty bedroll I found near a burning fire which is nestled under a stone wall near the barrow. It began to rain almost as soon as I got here so I was very grateful for the shelter. There were a few men and one woman who must have been calling this their home but I heard them running noisily through the rain and used a shock spell to kill them before they even reached their destination. I will not stay here for more than a day. I must return to Falkreath so that I can attempt to get some money out of them for 'avenging' the girls death. I need supplies badly.

The soul eater
Ahh skyrim how i realize i have not missed you as much as my fealty to you demands! But a new mistress has been dominating my horizon for the last several weeks. Yes, i have fallen victim to the World of Warcraft. In one week i have almost leveled my paladin 30 times...and managed to work 60 some hours too. I will tell you leveling in wow is almost as difficult as making crudites for 350...however the crudites aren't half as rewarding!
On another random note...i think my cat has a bladder infection because she considers herself the self appointed Venus flytrap of the house... fly's have so many icky bacteria on them, doesn't it seem plausible Either way i intend to start lacing her food with febreeze cause if shes gonna pee on everything it might as well deodorize instead of hardcore reek...
